What is a dream, if you don’t sleep?

I lay down and with me lies these thoughts that run through my mind like a live-action film. 
I control the scenes. 
I know who I am and what I am. 
I know where I go and what I do.
It is of my making. 
It is of my doing.
It is by design. 
The telling of a life not lived but imagined. 
Or the playback of a day that has passed.
