Today’s movie I watched some time ago: One More Try
Where to find it: at the time, Netflix. You might have to do a little search for this one.
Let’s get after it:
a man cheated on his primary woman with his secondary woman who didn’t know he had a primary woman, she eventually found out, broke it off...but cause the universe be working wonky magic, or could be the lack of protection, secondary woman was pregnant at the time of breaking things off with dude.
Fast forward six years, man married the primary woman he cheated on. The secondary woman he cheated with has a boyfriend and they raise the son she had with triflin’ dude together.
This son is ill.
He needs some bone marrow. So she track down the child’s father....
Surprise!
“You a daddy! Our baby is sick and he need some of your marrow...meet me at the hospital.”
(I took some liberties)
So, they run tests on daddy, he’s the daddy but he isn’t a match to where they can use his marrow. If they had a sibling, they can use the marrow of the sibling.
They ain’t have no other baby together. So what does this damn doctor suggest while they are in her office with their partners beside them? That they have a second baby together.
Whew, y’all!
Imagine growing up knowing you only alive cause you needed to save your sibling. Counseling probably gonna be required.
Is that a lump in my throat??
They tried in vitro first. But y’all know that isn’t a guarantee, plus this is a drama so you KNOW it definitely wasn’t gonna work.
This kid is passing out all over this movie so you know he’s getting worse. Time is running out. I’m getting all sad. The boy needs haaalllp.
At this point I’m so shocked at it all that I don’t even know who okay’d married dude and secondary woman who got a boyfriend who been raising married dude son, having sex, but they set that mess up. Put it on the schedule like a parent-teacher conference. Whew.
The wife and the boyfriend are just shooketh and crying the whole damn movie cause their partners gotta spread the bed to save the child.
Alas, sacrifices must be made.
The background music throughout this film is the same music they play on the “save the animals” commercials, I swear it is. I damn near cried.
The first scheduled uh…love making (look at me all PG rating) didn’t go as planned, no double lines on the test. Wifey planned that meet. She was in total control of it. I mean, who wouldn’t be? I guess. Hell, all of this is outside my lane.
But operation: “make a donor baby to save our son” did not work.
Secondary woman ends up breaking it off with boyfriend. I forget why. Major part could be his girlfriend had to have sex with her ex to save a child he raising.
Boom! POW! Ka-chow!
Emotional hits, y’all.
One day, when wifey leaves town for business, secondary woman and dude end up doing the babymaking....and all it took was wife to leave and secondary girl to break up with boyfriend.
Who knew they was being held back by their partners???
So, secondary girl gets pregnant, child is saved, right?
But wait, there’s more!
Wife found out about this unauthorized unsanctioned…uh, parent-teacher conference and put them paws on girl (Google is a friend). She was swinging with all her might. Secondary girl almost lost the baby.
She didn’t. Baby was fine. And after all of that...they was all fine in the end. ALLADEM.
I skipped some vital parts to their coming together all harmoniously, or maybe I didn’t and it just ain’t making sense.
I’m sitting here trying to figure out wtf I watched.
And 90 percent of this film wasn’t even in English! It’s a Filipino movie.
So I’m reading this over the top drama just as much as I’m watching it.
Head just spinning.
And y’all, this came out on Christmas Day! What a gift, right?!
I don’t get into if movies are actually bad or not. One can infer my opinion on all that if they want. I liked it, I was also confused by it and lots of “wtf,” “I know you didn’t,” “get out of here with all that,” crossed my lips. I ain’t sayin’ it’s the worst movie out there (Vanilla Sky still exists) but I can understand a 60% or lower rating that I have been seeing on it.
Unprofessional Rating: DTM for dis tew much
