Stim Business Weekends.
Just little ol' me trying to promote other awesome small businesses in the hopes that it will help me with my own issues self-promotion.
Don’t get too hung up on “Stim Business” I just liked the name and thought it was cute but I want to amplify small businesses no matter if they are ND or not. I want to prioritize those who belong to historically excluded groups.
I am just going to jump right into this one because I think it might be a long one. So, on Saturday I asked my audience on both Facebook and Instagram to promote their small businesses. I know this is an area I struggle in and I am trying to get better at it. I am hoping that we can support each other with putting ourselves, and our businesses out there.
One of the most challenging things for me in life was to keep a job. I didn’t understand the rules, I wasn’t the best with people, and I had a difficult time advocating for myself. I haven’t gone through dozens of jobs before the age of 22. I haven’t worked a “traditional job” since that age either.
I won’t bore you with my employment journey and what led me to this point where I got my own little “somethin’ somethin’” but I share a smidge about it on this post.
What I also share in that post is my plan to at least once weekly talk about my business and my offerings. Speaking of, you can find out more about what I do and other things here:
I do disability and DEI trainings, presentations, workshops, author visits, and more.
Alright, so on that post I mentioned that I would highlight some of the small businesses listed in the comments. These are individuals who are members of historically excluded communities and I would like to do what I can to amplify their businesses.
I wanted to write about each business shared but I want to include as many as I can in this post so I might not be able to.
Let’s do this:
The Fem Bim-Boi has merch for sale on their site. Really inclusive sizing, crop tops and shirts up to 6x and hoodies up to 4x.
I too am a test kitchen offers to help you build your own cookbook. And trust me as a ND mama who struggles greatly in this area, this is a resource I definitely need. Sasha is also ND and helps us beautifully chaotic folks get our lives right with nutrition and good eats.
Hairy Farmpit Girls are goat farmers that make soap! That’s pretty damn cool if you ask me. If you want a good laugh as you scroll, check out their Facebook and give them a like and follow. Comment as well because they are monetized there, and every interaction counts!
Carissa makes some of the most amazing look soap and bath bombs I have ever seen. And many of her products are sensitive skin friendly. Carissa is big into the science of it all, so if you have any questions about the ingredients and how they might work with your skin (or your family’s) don’t hesitate to ask. Magical Girl Soap Company, check it out and you might have just found your next soap find.
Simply Sensory Play Co. is run by Michelle who is an Occupational Therapist that works in schools. Michelle is an ADHD parent to three kiddos, one who is ND as well. The business is relatively new, and they don’t have a large online presence, but they are looking to grow. Their Instagram handle is simply_sensory_
Badger Education replied to the post with a description that I literally cannot top so I am just going to copy and paste: UK based and developing free pdf downloads and an online training offer to improve education settings for autistic young people one staff member at a time. Focusing on acceptance and empathy and creating more neuroaffirming educators. They also have a Facebook page.
All things sensory by Alyssa is “affordable fidgets by a neurodivergent for neurodivergents.” Here is their IG profile.
Create Yourself Co is another who provided a response that I really can’t do any better so, another copy and paste: I’m Jacqui, a neurodivergent SLP, Social Emotional Coach and Mama of 2. I initially opened up my LLC in 2021 to create sensory spaces for children based on their sensory profiles; although I still offer this service, my services have shifted to nervous system therapy via a top down (safe and sound protocol) and bottom up (felt sense Polyvagal model) approach; and parent coaching for 1) connection and communication stimulation and 2) sensory social emotional regulation. I’m also offering my 3rd cohort of sensational beings club: yin & Yang retuned (6 weeks of embodied nervous system healing in co-regulation, virtually). My website (that needs to be updated) is www.createyourselfco.com. My instagram is createyourselfco
Okay, I am going to stop at eight. I received so many comments. More on Facebook than Instagram, but I am confident that keeping these weekly posts going that more will respond.
I am going to pin the business post on both IG and FB so that more businesses can respond, and I can highlight them as best I can hoping that it can drive some customers their way.
