I wanted to be this woman who made no apologies for who she was. She answered to no man. There was no name another could give her that she would answer to. She was who she said she was. No one defined her. Her accomplishments were her own. Oh, she was gentle and kind and nurturing, all those things they expected her to be. But she was also fierce, and brave, and inspiring. I wanted to be that woman.
